"You have to be willing to sacrifice everything and anything. Even if it means your significant other."
It's possible that I misunderstood the scope of this sentiment, but I'm not going to sacrifice my marriage, family or faith for writing. I recognize that many authors do not have supportive spouses and families, and that I'm one of the lucky ones. However, I've also met my fair share of deadbeats, writing or not, who need to put their house in order before they complain about a lack of time or support.
Yes, this passage was the only one I didn’t agree with at all. Solid interview overall, even if I still have trouble believing that words=cash, but I’d never sacrifice my family life for writing. If I can’t do both, I’d rather have a happy family. And anyway, what’s the purpose of writing if you sacrifice your life for words on paper? Won’t they be just empty words?
Great interview, but problematic.
Why?
Because I don't have space to buy all the books Vincent has written and I want to now...
I'm curious if anybody read Vincent’s work before Frank interviewed him, even a page or two in an Amazon preview.
Thanks Frank!!
